Hazelwood Parents and Staff Association (HPSA) – who are we and what do we do?
HPSA is made up of every parent/carer at Hazelwood School. This means that once your child joins Hazelwood you are a member of HPSA.
We are a registered charity run by a group of parent volunteers who organise fun events for our school community in order to raise much needed funds for our schools. We are immensely proud to have funded Hazelwood’s learning kitchen recently - a huge project and a real testament to what our community can achieve! Over the years HPSA has paid for installation of the outdoor world map and history timeline, wall art and books for the library in the Nest, interactive whiteboards in many classrooms, audio visual equipment for school performances, green and sensory areas for play, and KS1 and KS2 outdoor gym equipment. We also fund smaller but just as important things, such as resources to support children with varying additional needs, school garden maintenance, workshops to support kids with well-being and emotional guidance, and much more.

How can you Help?
HPSA relies on parent members to all help where they can. This can be as simple as attending events, or you can take a more active role in helping to organise events like the quiz, discos, movie nights, Christmas and Summer Fetes.
Every class in the school has two HPSA class reps who coordinate class activity – such as volunteers to man the class stalls at the fetes. To oversee it all as a charity we also have a yearly voted-in committee of parents who volunteer their time to be Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer.
As many of the current leadership members will be leaving Hazelwood in the next couple of years, we need new parents to step up and join the committee - could this be you?
If you feel you can help please get in touch via hazelwoodhpsa@gmail.com, follow us on Instagram, and come along to one of our twice-termly meetings. All parents and carers at the school are welcome. We always need new ideas, fresh faces and different perspectives, and really welcome any support you can offer!

The HPSA Committee
We are really grateful for the hard work and dedication of a small group of parents who give up their time to be on the HPSA Committee.

The HPSA Committee
Eva Koniavitou - Co-Chair
Eva was a professional ballet and contemporary dancer and currently teaches ballet to children and adults. You may have seen her on stage at one of our Pantos - make sure you look out for her this year!! She is a mum with twin girls in year 5 and has been involved in HPSA since day one of the girls starting. She loves to help make our school a better place for our kids.
Sara Raafat - Co-Chair
Sara has a son in year 6 and boy/girl twins in year 4. She enjoys getting to know parents from across the school community through volunteering with HPSA. Working in admin management, she brings organisation and spreadsheets to various HPSA events, but likes to get creative too. Come Autumn term she can be found producing and performing in the school panto, always on the lookout for willing parents to join in this fun Hazelwood tradition!
Anna Morris - Co-Vice Chair
Anna has worked in events and catering for over 20 years and has her own cafe, Anna's Courtside at Conway. Anna has three boys (one of whom is still at Hazelwood) and has been involved in HPSA for over ten years. She loves getting involved in all the school events, lending her creative ear (she can often be seen carrying a pink flamingo!). She is always looking for like minded organisers to help plan and facilitate HPSA events.
Alia Faour - Co-Vice Chair
Alia is currently juggling a Year 6, a Year 3, a toddler and a cup of tea that has probably gone cold. By trade, she’s a Primary School teacher, but while taking a break to tutor and spend time with family, she decided to add "HPSA Committee Member" to her daily chaos. Her mission? Helping make Hazelwood an even more exciting place for our kids. She’s a familiar face at fete stalls, organises the school Iftar, and once made a brave (and memorable) stage appearance in the Panto. She’s always looking for new faces to join the fun, so please pop over and say hi!
Rhian Rajaratnam - Treasurer
Rhian has two sons, one of whom is still at Hazelwood in year 2. Before stepping into the role of Treasurer last year, she has supported HPSA as a HPSA rep and been helping out with events for a number of years. She's enjoying being more involved and raising lots of money for the school!
Dharmishta Chauhan - Assistant Treasurer
Dee is a Chartered and Certified Accountant and passionate about her professional life and giving back to the community. She is excited to bring her accounting expertise to help with the Treasury duties. She has a son in Year 2 at Hazelwood. Being part of the HPSA Committee is a great way for her to contribute to the school and leave a lasting impact.
Cara Christie - Committee Member
Cara is the friendly face behind all things Maple Hall Party Bookings – if there are balloons, an entertainer, or a disco involved, she's on it. When she’s not keeping the party calendar under control, she’s busy juggling life and has a desperate need to learn how to crochet with little success. Her two children are in Year 6 and Year 2. Cara can turn even the quickest “hello” into a full-on catch-up so come say hi and ask about booking your next party!
Joe Fowler - Committee Member
Joe is a TV Producer who has a son in Year 4. He has lots of experience in organising big events for work and now helps run the bar at all of our HPSA events. He’s also been known to whip up a poster or two, as well as bake a cake for our many coffee mornings/cake sales.
Joe Newell - Committee Member
Joe has been working as a freelance TV Producer for over twenty years, having made several programmes for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. With a child in year 4, Joe has been active with HPSA since joining the school and has become our chief barman, running the bar at all major fundraising events. So if you want a ‘healthy measure’ at the next fundraiser, make friends with Joe! He’s also in charge of our annual Christmas tree sales.
Silvana Talbot - Committee Member
Silvana has 2 daughters who love being at Hazelwood and taking part in the many events HPSA organise. She is currently a class rep and joined the Committee a couple of years ago. She’s keen to be involved and help out in any way she can (except baking!). With a background in criminal justice and charity management, community and building relationships is a passion of Silvana’s. She has co-founded and runs a career coaching company and is also a volunteer at the North London Hospice.
