  • Year 1 Nativity

    Published 15/12/23

There is only one thing better than having a Nativity in the lead up to Christmas... having two Nativities! And this year, with our four Year 1 classes, that is exactly what we have got.
All four children performed their Nativity: Christmas with the Aliens to children at the school and their parents. And what fabulous shows they were! There were narrators, shepherds, innkeepers, angels, kings, stars, donkeys, Mary and Joseph, the Angel Gabriel and, of course, the Aliens that came to earth to meet some surprised Hazelwood Children to learn all about the Nativity story.

Huge thanks to all of the staff that have worked so hard to produce a fabulous show… twice!

But the biggest well done and thank you is to our little Year 1 stars who shone so brightly with their wonderful performance.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The Christmas Fare was an absolute hit on Friday 1st December! We had the cold weather so wrapped up as warm as possible to enjoy the huge array of exciting things on offer. Food and drink, games, bouncy castles, HPSA merch, tombolas, hampers, exciting stalls and, of course, a visit to Santa's Grotto ensured that everyone had a fabulous time last Friday.
Huge thank you to Anna Morris and her amazing HPSA team. The money raised will be going towards an interactive outside games board, as requested by the school council on behalf of all of the children.

For some of our children, this was the first time they had every been to the theatre and we were so delighted to be able to take them!

The children sang lots of songs, with plenty of actions, for families to listen to and sing along with. It was a wonderful festive atmosphere which finished with the turning on of the Christmas lights.

As we mark Remembrance Day, it is important that we all, adults and children, remember the courage that was shown in order to protect and defend loved ones in the countless wars that have taken place in the last century and this one.

Once again, we were privileged to attend the Remembrance Service this morning at Broomfield Park. Thank you to Miss Bispham for organising and supporting the children to sing a selection of World War Two songs and play their instruments.

  • Year 5 Trip to Gilwell

    Published 20/10/23

On Thursday 12th and Friday 13th October, our Year 5 children headed off to Gilwell Scout Camp for a couple of days of outdoor learning. They really enjoyed sharing rooms with their friends and taking part in exciting activities such as crate stacking, bouldering, zip wire, pedal go-carts and wobbly pole.

The children spent time playing outdoor games and exploring the woods, identifying trees and looking for hidden secrets. Some even created their own woodland person from the natural materials they found. Some children were a little nervous about taking part, but everyone challenged themselves to overcome their fears, showing our values of resilience and courage as well as fantastic teamwork and responsibility. Despite a little rain, the children had a fantastic time and enjoyed taking part in activities they may not have tried before.

  • Year 6 PGL

    Published 29/09/23

On Monday, some very weary Year 6 children and staff arrived back to school following their fantastic trip to PGL Caythorpe Court. The children had a wonderful time, taking part in a whole host of different activities: climbing, abseiling, Giant Swing, canoeing, orienteering and archery, just to name a few! Lots of sweets were eaten and not much sleep was had but all of the children demonstrated our school values of courage, ambition and teamwork throughout the trip - we couldn’t have been prouder of all their achievements!
Huge thanks to Miss McBride, Ms Reid, Mrs Conner, Mr Jack and Miss Rosalind for leading the trip and giving the children these life-long memories!

  • A Golden Ticket

    Published 15/07/23

The Year 6 production of 'A Golden Ticket' was truly magnificent! The children performed so well, having learnt their lines, the songs and the dance moves during the half term. There were singers, dancers, prop makers,  Oompa Loompas, bratty children (who we know are lovely in real life - they are simply great actors!), suspect German actors, poor manners with too much burping, and, of course Willy Wonker herself with a lot of chocolate!! Not forgetting the technicians who ensured that the show ran without a hitch - it was a wonderful team performance from our very special year 6!
Huge thanks to all of the adults who helped to make this show so special: Ms Kelly, Miss Saker, Mrs Leite, Mrs Watson, Mr Jack and many of our support staff who worked so hard to support our children, make the props and help with costumes.
And to our directors and producers - Ms Reid, Mr Robotham and a special mention for Mrs Barker who choreographed and made sure the show was simply brilliant!
